Day 1

Egyptian Museum

You will meet your guide at the start of your day tour in Cairo. You will visit the Egyptian Museum to explore a wide range of antiques, such as King Tutankhamun’s treasures and jewellery. Our guide will accompany you for two hours in the museum to explain all the information and details of the ancient Egyptian artifacts.

You will be seeing the treasures of King Tutankhamun, which are the only royal treasure collection from the eighteenth dynasty of the New Kingdom. This includes an elaborate array of gold and silver jewelry that lay behind the desert sand for well over three thousand years until the tomb was located and plundered for its treasures that eventually found their way into the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

Old Islamic Cairo Tour

From there, you go through the Salah al-Din Citadel to witness the Alabaster Mosque of Mohammed Ali, one of the main attractions of Islamic Cairo. This mosque is an outstanding landmark representing Ottoman architecture in Cairo. The citadel was constructed during the Islamic era and was a medieval fortress serving as the seat of the Egyptian government from the reign of Salah Eldin until King Farouk in the early twentieth century.

Coptic Cairo Tour

On your tour in Coptic Cairo, you will be taken to visit some of the oldest and famous churches in all of Egypt. An exploration of the historic Roman fortress of Babylon will also be undertaken, along with a visit to the Hanging Church, a prominent Cairo landmark.

You will enter the Church of St. Sergius, which was erected on the crypt where Christ, his mother, and St Joseph the Carpenter were said to have lived for almost three months. One will marvel at the sight of the Ben Ezra Synagogue, built prior to the ninth century, having once been Coptic and converted into a Jewish synagogue.

Later, further exploration of the city’s most conspicuous Islamic estate will take place, stretching across medieval fortifications and mosques, including the Al-Hakim Mosque in Egypt.

After completing your Cairo tours from the airport, you will be chauffeured back to your hotel.
